help with recruitment, lead outreach efforts, pair up with new parents,
develop service projects (e.g.,
Leadership U-Prep), volunteer in classrooms and the office, and serve

II.
This section provides
information about the school's comprehensive safety plan.
|
|
School Discipline Practices
This section provides information about
the school's efforts to create and maintain a positive learning environment, including
the school's use of disciplinary strategies.
|
We believe learning best occurs in a small, safe environment where
students have many opportunities to form significant, positive relationships with
adults (teachers, administrators, counselors, advisors, coaches,
paraprofessionals) and where all students can access a college-prep
curriculum with a wide selection of electives and a staff responsive to
students’ needs. Students meet
with advisors 2-3 times weekly in 25 minute sessions designed to address
grade appropriate issues (I.e.: character education, study skills, time
management, bullying, college advisement).
Selected junior high and high school students are trained as conflict
mediators, and students are encouraged to work through these students when
appropriate. Lunch time and after
school detention sessions are used to address violations of school
rules. U-Prep requires students to
have a cell phone contract, which is signed by student and parents, on file
in order to bring a phone to school. |
